TD status permits a spouse to accompany the principal and to study, but it provides no employment authorization. A spouse who plans to work must qualify for an independent status that permits the intended employment.
Study is permitted; employment is a separate question
Hypothetical example: the technologist's spouse works in medical office administration and expects to find similar work after the move. Dependent status will not permit that. There are two honest options: the spouse pursues admission in their own right if their occupation is listed and they meet its requirement, which needs its own prearranged employment and preparation; or the household accepts a period on one income and plans for it.
Children admitted as dependants may attend school, and their eligibility as derivatives ends at twenty-one, which matters if the assignment is expected to last years. Confirm citizenship for each family member individually, because a spouse who holds Canadian permanent residence rather than citizenship faces different procedural steps even where the principal does not.
