For TN classification, the Appendix 2 credential is D.V.M., D.M.V. or Doctor en Veterinaria, or a state or provincial licence. The destination-state licence is a separate practice requirement; it need not already be issued for TN classification, although it must be obtained before practising if state law requires it. Keep the degree, transcripts, licensing records, required credential verifications, and certified translations.
The state's process runs on its own timetable
Hypothetical example: the practice wants the veterinarian to start at the beginning of the feeding season and nobody has looked at what the destination state requires. Veterinary practice is regulated at state level, and licensure typically involves an application, verification of the degree, evidence of examinations passed and a processing period that is not shortened by an employer's urgency. Establish which licence applies, whether any reciprocity or endorsement arrangement is relevant, and how long each stage takes, then set the start date.
Assemble the degree parchment, full transcripts, examination records and any national certification held, together with certified translations where needed. Keep a scanned set at home in Picture Butte and a second with the employer. If the employer files a petition rather than using the port-of-entry route, the same material supports it.
